Following Julie Middlesmiss Browns’ exciting move to Youth Scotland, Youth Borders is now seeking her replacement for the 20 hour Health Improvement Practitioner (Youth Work) post beginning in February 2018.
This is a really exciting opportunity to join our energetic team and work closely not only with the Borders Joint Health Improvement team, but also with many partners across the Borders and Scotland. The role is responsible for promoting training, support and capacity building throughout the sector around sexual health, and health and wellbeing. It will provide the successful candidate with a unique opportunity to work with youth workers, volunteers and young people as well as schools, school nurses, Looked After and Accommodated Children (LAAC) practitioners and others to foster greater confidence, awareness, information and skills to support young people’s health and wellbeing through a youth work approach. The project has been running successfully for just over three years and is recognised as innovative and good practice.
The role will be supported by YouthBorders and by Health Improvement and the Practitioner will be expected to work in partnership to plan, develop and deliver training, engage, and support. Most of all we would expect the successful candidate to have a passion about supporting and empowering young people in the Borders and making a difference, working to the Sexual Health and Emotional Health and Wellbeing priorities and within the strong impact of a youth work approach.
