Generation Code Course available for youth groups

As the world around us becomes increasingly digital, coding skills are in high demand. Everything from web pages and apps to computer games and ATM machines use code and young people are in a great position to take advantage.
Generation Code is an exciting partnership between MicrosoftThe Tablet AcademyUK Youth and Youth Scotland to deliver sessions for young people who are interested in developing their coding skills.
How will the course work?
The course is aimed and young people aged 9 – 17 years old that have no or little previous experience with coding. At the end of the course, young people can bring their new skills to bear in a practical way, with an opportunity to enter the Code4Community national competition and devise an app to help their local community.
Those taking part also have the opportunity to complete the iDEA Digital Badge and gain the nationally recognised iDEA Bronze Award.
How long is the course?
The course lasts a total of 3 hours and can be spread across a few weeks.
Who should attend?
If you have between 10 and 15 young people interested in your group, why not get in touch with Ceri Hunter, your local Generation Code Tutor, either on the phone on 01835 824000 ext 8405 or by email ceri.hunter@scotborders.gov.uk
