Impact of the Voluntary Youth Work Sector in the Scottish Borders Report

YouthBorders have published a report evaluating the impact of voluntary youth work groups in the area, compiled on behalf of local groups who have been funded by Scottish Borders Council partnership funding. Evaluation Support Scotland has used this report in its submission to the Commission on the Future Delivery of Public Services. It is very positive for YouthBorders and Borders youth projects to be used as an example of good practice in demonstrating the difference we make.

There is an easy to read executive summary, with key findings, challenges and recommendations. The bulk of the report has the methodology, evidence of Curriculum for Excellence outcomes and six case studies. Going forward we would like to provide more quantitative data in addition to this. All information and case studies have been made anonymous so that young people cannot be identified.

The report has been received well by the Children’s and Young People’s Planning Partnership and will contribute to the case for the funding of voluntary sector youth work with a wide range of funders.

Evaluation training is now on offer from YouthBorders to support groups in creating this type of report in the future.
