The benefits of joining YouthBorders
Be part of the network
As the network of third sector youth organisations in the Scottish Borders, it is our role to facilitate and support the work of our members, provide training and networking, and be the voice of youth work and young people in the Borders.
Joining YouthBorders enables your organisation to have access to a range of benefits to support your organisation, your workers, your volunteers and your young people.
One of the key services YouthBorders offers its members is training – both directly and in partnership with Youth Scotland, Scottish Borders Council and many others.
We cover a range of areas and respond to members’ needs including:
– Sexual Health
– First Aid
– First Steps in youth work
– Child Protection
– Food Hygiene
– Good Governance
YouthBorders’ role is to support its broad membership with practical advice, PVGs, policies and procedures, training and capacity building, volunteering and with cross Borders projects that benefit as many children and young people from across the Borders as possible. Recent projects include leadership for young people, volunteering, self-evaluation and youth music forum.
We work with each member to maximise the work and each of each organisation. We represent their views and provide networking and other events to share best practice and support.
PVG Scheme Guidance
Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) is a vital; stage in child protection procedures for all staff and volunteers, but, do not worry YouthBorders supports its members through the whole process.
The process of an application form, interview and taking up references for the individual also ensures that you know something about them and their interest in your youth club. This does not need to be a very formal process and can be a great way of getting to know a new person and what skills and experience/expertise they can bring.
