Fruto del Espiritu

Lulo, Mora and Maracuya, exotic Latin American fruits supplied by Fruto del Espiritu,
were presented in cocktails at the YouthBorders launch on Wednesday 7th November.

The aims of Fruto del Espíritu are to:

a) Position exotic Latin American fruit as a high quality Recreational Alternative
Fruto del Espíritu introduces the delicious and unique flavours and textures of Latin America to European palates through presentations, exotic fruit tasting events and drinks-making and culinary demonstrations.

b) Kick-start a Revolution in non-Alcoholic Cocktails
‘Licuado' is the term coined for a cocktail, where the base flavour is Latin Liquidised fruit rather than an alcoholic spirit. Fruto del Espíritu promotes the creation of innovative new Licuados for serving in Receptions, Events and in Fruit Bars.

c) Promote the Recreational Fruit Culture among Young People
Fruto del Espíritu works with schools and youth clubs to show how trade and consumption choices can transform the prospects of young people in Latin America; teaching the drinks-making and business skills needed to set up a Latin Fruit Bars and
organising Cocktail Events with Latin American musicians and dancers.

d) Promote One Portion of Latin American Fruit a Day as part of a Healthy Lifestyle
Fruto del Espíritu offers an ethical input to those five portions of fruit & vegetables a day through the Aficionados (enthusiasts) programme.

e) Finance both Opportunities for Latin American families in the Exotic Fruit Sector and Healthy Eating for Latin American children at high risk
· Each bottle bought by a Latin Fruit Aficionado finances training and school fees for Latin American families in the exotic fruit sector.
· Each bottle bought by Young Aficionados (under 18s) finances nutritional meals for Latin American children at high risk.

Fruto del Espiritu carries out its aims through Film Screenings, Exotic Fruit Tasting Events and Drinks-Making Workshops, which demonstrate how to make juices, milkshakes, smoothies and non-alcoholic cocktails. Having mastered the drinks-making principles, Schools and Youth Clubs can learn how to cost and price the drinks and how to finance and set up their own fruit bar. While enjoying exotic Latin fruits as part of their Five-a-Day healthy lifestyle, they will also be financing nutritious meals for children at high risk in Latin America.
